Project Overview:

Fully featured full stack social media website including authentication, friend requests, statuses, messages, and comments. All items have full CRUD functionality and search, filter, and sort. Built responsive UI with full functionality including fetching data from API and displaying data on page with modern design. Back end designed with RESTful API accessing relational database.

What I Learned:

This was the most ambitious project I have completed to date. Building the front end showed me how a wide variety of content and functionpty can be generated through array methods returning react components. Building the back end was a great example of creating a RESTful API and customizing it in order to simplify the code on the front end.

Project Overview:

The USAA Mortgage Date Calculator is a lightweight and responsive web application with USAA branded design. Functionality includes calculating various dates for the mortgage underwriting process.

What I Learned:

This was a very exciting project to build. I collaborated with many people at USAA to create this application including users and decision makers in the mortgage department as well as mentors within Software Development department. Working with dates in JavaScript without using external tools or frameworks was also an interesting challenge. We secured approval to have this application approved for roll out, so this tool is now in production for hundreds of users at USAA.

Sleezy's Used Cars



Project Overview:

Sleezy’s Used Cars is a car dealership website that allows the user to view the inventory of cars and dealership locations of Sleezy’s Used Cars. Both vehicles and locations have full CRUD functionality, and the project was built using conditional rendering to allow for efficient code. This showed me that a dynamic and functional application can be built as a single page application. I am very proud of the design of this application and feel like I am now very comfortable working with Semantic UI to make a beautiful user interface

What I Learned:

I worked with an existing API on this project which allowed me to practice with Axios requests and using array methods to map and filter the data to exactly what I needed for the application. I continued to refine my skills in React and Redux and feel that the code I wrote was more efficient and concise than previous projects. My main point of pride on this application is the design. I very much grew my skills in Semantic UI and web design with this project.

Project Overview:

This is a website I built in collaboration with the owners of Williams Island Marina. The main features of the site are displaying images and information about the marina, local weather, dining, and event information, contact form, and a form to book a slip.

What I Learned:

This project was built by starting with a WordPress template, and updating and customizing the template using HTML, CSS, and JavaScript. The most exciting part of this project was the process of meeting with decision makers at the Marina to develop and prioritize the user stories, report on updates after each sprint, and ensure the final project met all of their business requirements.

Apart from being a web developer, I love to spend my time with my beautiful wife and son. Together we enjoy camping, hiking, sports, and being outdoors. In the winter, I am an avid snowboarder. As my degree in music suggests, I enjoy playing trombone, guitar, ukulele, and banjo, and attending concerts.

I am a BBQ pitmaster, smoking and grilling all sorts of great meat. I can be the MVP of our team's potluck bringing brisket, pulled pork, or ribs for all to enjoy. Finally, I enjoy spending my free time exploring the latest technology advancements including coding and software development, cool new devices, and gaming.
